God Prevails

We're stepping into the book of Exodus, a powerful narrative about redemption that picks up 400 years after Joseph's death. What began as 70 Hebrews settling in Goshen has multiplied into potentially 2 million people—a testimony to God's faithfulness to His promise to Abraham. But here's where the story gets intense: a new Pharaoh rises who doesn't honor Joseph's legacy, and suddenly God's people find themselves enslaved, their lives made bitter with hard labor. Yet here's the beautiful paradox we need to grasp—the more Pharaoh pressed down, the more God's people multiplied. This isn't just ancient history; it's a profound truth for our own lives. When we're in our personal Egypt—facing financial hardship, relational struggles, or vocational challenges—we often pray for God to remove us from the difficulty. But what if God is doing something deeper? What if He's not removing us yet because He's preparing us, blessing us even in the pressure? The Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah faced an impossible choice: obey Pharaoh's murderous command or fear God above all else. They chose holy reverence for God over fear of man, and God blessed them for it. We're challenged to examine our own lives: do we have that same holy reverence that drives every decision we make? The unknowns in their story mirror the unknowns in ours—they didn't see Moses coming, didn't know about the Red Sea parting. They had to walk by faith, just as we do. God is sovereign, working all things together for good, even when we can't see the blueprint.
