I Am Who I Am
We find ourselves in one of the most iconic scenes in all of Scripture: Moses standing before a burning bush that refuses to be consumed by flames. But this isn't just an ancient story about miraculous fire—it's a profound encounter that challenges how we view God's presence in our ordinary, mundane moments. Moses had spent forty years as a shepherd, watching his father-in-law's flock, likely wrestling with disappointment and wondering if God had forgotten the calling he once felt. Yet in that very wilderness of monotony and frustration, God showed up. This passage reminds us that our wilderness seasons aren't wasted time—they're preparation grounds where God refines us, tears down our pride, and shapes us for purposes we can't yet see. The holy ground Moses stood on wasn't special because of the soil itself, but because of God's presence. We're invited to consider: have we lost our awe of a holy God? In our busyness or our struggles, have we stopped recognizing when the Divine interrupts our everyday routines? God's declaration 'I AM WHO I AM' reveals His complete independence and eternality—concepts our finite minds struggle to grasp, yet that's where faith begins. When God calls us to impossible tasks, our excuses crumble before His promise: 'I will be with you.' That same promise extends to us today, reminding us that with God, all things truly are possible.
