Before Midnight Comes

In Exodus chapter 11, we encounter a sobering moment in the narrative of God's deliverance: the announcement of the final plague. After nine previous judgments, each designed to expose the powerlessness of Egyptian gods and draw hearts toward the one true God, we arrive at the most devastating warning yet. This passage challenges us to examine the temperature of our own hearts. Are we like Pharaoh, repeatedly hearing truth but allowing pride to harden our response? Or are we willing to truly surrender? The Egyptians had months to witness God's power and faithfulness, yet Pharaoh's heart grew progressively harder with each refusal. We face a similar choice today. We have access to the complete story of Scripture, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and countless opportunities to respond to God's truth. The question becomes: what will we do with the warnings we receive? God's judgments aren't random acts of cruelty but expressions of grace, attempting to redirect us from false gods back to relationship with Him. Whether our false gods are wealth, health, status, or self-sufficiency, they will ultimately fail us. Before midnight comes for each of us, we must decide whether we'll remain neutral or fully surrender to Christ as both Savior and Lord.
